About The SHOW

In the world of Crashlight, tens of millions of people in a dystopian/Orwell-esque future have only three minutes of sunlight a day. This small amount of light is controlled by a fascist dictator, Marcus Pressi; a master of propaganda, a master of power and control by censorship. Rian, an illegal violin maker in the dark leaves her home and two sisters after discovering that the regime is hiding the sunlight away. With courage, she disguises herself as the enemy in an attempt to reveal a beautiful freedom to those who don't even know one exists. This original story and never before heard music expresses our capacity as people to desire truth and the divine power of communication through music.

ABOUT PEACHPIE PRODUCTIONS

PeachPie Productions was founded by writer/director Celeste Makoff in 2013, San Francisco. Ms. Makoff relocated the company to Manhattan to produce Bottled Up, an experiential meets narrative show at the DCTV Center in Tribeca in May 2015. Since producing Crashlight in 2016, the company is now run by two more producers, Kaitlyn Moise and Trevor Bumgarner.  PeachPie's mission is to give young new artists a professional framework to exercise their talents in order to gain the experience they need to take on a career in the arts.

Crashlight Reviews

Crashlight was nominated for a 2016 Broadway World Award (Central New York) for Best Director of a Musical (Celeste Makoff) and Best Musical!

“[T]he production has the imaginative power to draw us into its world, then send us out with songs in our hearts.” – Jon Sobel blogcritics

"This lady [Celeste Makoff] has a gift for melody. It's her own invention and it very is very soothing and is extraordinary melodious and I think she has a future as a composer and we’d be lucky to have her in the theater because her music is so haunting." - Peter Filichia Broadway Radio

“There is budding genius in the music written by Makoff and arranged by Bumgarner.” – Spencer Lau OnStage
"The music has beautiful harmonies but don’t give off the jukebox music sound that modern shows have. Kaitlyn Moise also has moments of fine choreography woven into the story." – Spencer Lau OnStage

“Makoff sensitively captures the artistic impulses of her characters.”– Martin Kushner The Reviews Hub

“The original recorded music by Trevor Bumgarner, which accompanies the singers and dancers, is orchestral and edges towards atonality. Director/writer Makoff has well-integrated the music into the action and dialogue. There is a relaxed, semi-improvisational quality to the production, the singing and dancing.” -Martin Kushner The Reviews Hub
